Being part of the workforce is a meaningful experience for most people, our residents included. So Jacob’s Village ensures that all its residents have the opportunity to find suitable employment should they want it. Except for one retiree, all our current residents have chosen to work.

Job skills training and placement assistance are offered to help residents secure work in the surrounding community. For those residents already employed when they come to live with us, Jacob’s Village partners with employers to assure needed support is available.

For example, Michael, our newest resident, was a seven-year employee of an Evansville sub-assembly manufacturing plant when he arrived at the Village. Our staff made all the travel and other arrangements necessary to permit Michael to continue that job.

Our residents have the satisfaction of being contributing members of the community. Michael’s supervisor comments, “He shows up every day and puts in good work. He keeps his area clean and is no trouble. Michael’s a quiet, good worker – the kind you want in your factory. He makes the established rate and does his job very well.” What a fitting testimony to the well-liked, productive workers Jacob’s Village has to offer southwest Indiana!

As the Village develops, residents’ vocational options will multiply. Not only is our network of business contacts growing, we are also investigating the possibility of on-site vocational opportunities. The future holds great promise for our residents who want to earn a paycheck – and the fulfillment of a job well done!
